PGA Nominees

By Chase Kahn

The Producers Guild of America's nominees announced this morning are as good an indicator as to what the field of ten will look like at AMPAS as we've seen so far. "Nine" is out, genre films are in. The PGA's Top Ten (alpha order):

"Avatar"
"An Education"
"District 9"
"The Hurt Locker"
"Inglourious Basterds"
"Invictus"
"Precious"
"Star Trek"
"Up
"Up in the Air"

I still feel like there's always a surprise that sneaks in to the Best Picture field, and with the category inflated to ten this year, surely something will sneak in that we didn't expect. The word is that either "Star Trek" or "District 9" will probably not get in with something else taking its place. They're both considered to be from the same litter - we'll see.

  2. This list makes me sad for American cinema. The only good film (and my film of the year) is THE HURT LOCKER. What about GOOD BYE SOLO? Or THE LIMITS OF CONTROL? DISTRICT 9 was not very good and Tarantino's latest was a disaster, both vivesected on my blog.
