The first review is a foul-mouthed diatribe (an 8th grader could write more fluently), but the second review is spot-on, I can agree with or recognize just about every point that he makes.I just can't stress enough how shockingly bland and innocuous the whole production feels and how miserably tedious the relationship between Cate Blanchett's Marian and Russell Crowe's Robin is. The second reviewer couldn't be more accurate when he calls it "second-hand." It feels like something that Mike Newell or Gore Verbinski shot. It's all kinds of bad.

Hence the hype.

Who and how is it tedious? That's a very vague statement.
ReplyDeleteI'm referring specifically to the relationship between Marian and Robin as tedious. It's flat, unconvincing, tiresome, it just doesn't work.
