So Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker, one of the best films of the year by anybody's standards and certainly the best film ever made about the Iraq War, won the Gotham Awards' "Best Ensemble" and "Best Feature" honors.
That's great, and the film needs all the help it can get at this point (although a Best Picture nomination is assured, it's certainly no front-runner), but the real precursors start this Thursday when the National Board of Review names its top films of 2009. You can read my 8.4 review of The Hurt Locker here.
