This Scott Bowles USA Today article about Zack Snyder's Legend of the Guardians (Warner Bros., 09.24.10), a 3D-animated fantasy film about owls, certainly sounds interesting to say the least. When one thinks of Zack Snyder, wide-angle orchestrations of balletic beheadings seems to be the first image that pops to mind, but as he describes, this film is something that his kids could watch.
I'm not that big on Snyder. To me, he's a stylist who makes amateurishly nihilistic films, but having said that, there is an appeal to slipping into his green screen worlds from time-to-time before that initial buzz wears off. I think I'll give him one more chance with Sucker Punch before I throw in the towel and make up my mind.
