I've been trying to get my hands on a DVD of Robert Siodmak's The Crimson Pirate (1952), starring Burt Lancaster. Warner Bros. released the film on DVD in 2003, but it has since gone out-of-print. So I then turned my attention to eBay, where sealed copies are being offered at $40-$50, but copies with no artwork are a mere $5 or so. Sold.
Lancaster made a few action/adventure films during the early 50's around the time of shooting From Here to Eternity (1952) that include William Dieterle's Rope of Sand (1949), Jacques Tourneur's The Flame and the Arrow (1950) and Byron Haskins' His Majesty O'Keefe (1954). The Crimson Pirate also has a supporting performance by Christopher Lee.
