I'm very excited about this feature (I always enjoy doing theme-driven viewing marathons to share with everyone) and this special Giallo Horror Marathon, which is only just a part of the stuff I'm doing in October, will be no different.

I truly haven't really seen anything from the genre so not only is this a fun way to cover films, it's also a great way for me to extend my vocabulary, and so I picked a pretty substantial list of films that cover the prime timeline for the Giallo movement. They are:

Great list to start with, but I'd definitely recommend more Fulci such as "House by the Cemetary" and "The Beyond". Also, Lamberto Bava's "Demons" is a personal favorite.
ReplyDelete"The Beyond" actually was on the preliminary list at some point, but I had to draw the line somewhere. As a Giallo virgin, I really wanted to try and cover all of the basics and, of course, availability was a prime concern.
ReplyDeleteIf things are going along at a good pace, I may re-add "The Beyond" and "House by the Cemetery" to the list, so thanks for the recommendations. And I'd never actually heard of "Demons"...sounds kind of awesome.
